I googled similar blogs to the one I want to write about eating healthy in Purdue dining halls and found three that I have linked above. I did not like the first one because I feel that it is too formal and number based. I immediately did not want to read that blog based on the layout and content. I think writing a more personal and informal blog will be better for the audience of college students. I felt like the second two were better at drawing my attention and making me want to actually read the blog. I also liked how they were broken down into numbered sections, making it easier to glance through the subtitles in the blogs instead of looking through long text. Although the second blog used more images than I plan to, I think using a few images of food will be effective in drawing in the visual aspect of the blog and appeal to the senses.
This topic is also fairly dry by itself, so I plan to draw inspiration from the writing style used in the second blog. It was written in a tone that was positive but also very personal, it sounded almost like a friend wrote it for me and I could relate to it more. So, overall I plan to combine aspects of the second and third blog when writing my blog next week. I like the informal text and layout, images that appeal to the senses, and using sections with subtitles to break up the blog text. I will also need to keep in mind that this is written for Purdue students, so I will have to focus on accessibility, age groups, and other factors about my audience.
